Tokens of remembrance

Wherever I travel, no matter what sight I'm seeing, it is the history that draws me in. The people who lived before me, leaving something behind to tell their tale. Perhaps photos, a journal, personal belongings, and the most touching of all - loved ones. Who we are while we're on this planet doesn't stop with the end of our existence. Our impact carries on, if only in simple memory.

It never fails that once I've taken the photo I think I want and replace the lens cover, I see a perfect shot that I wasn't even looking for. A theme emerged out of my favorite DC photos from earlier this month, and I wanted to share some of them with you.

Whether the decorations are humble......
........or boldly and rightly proud.......
.......part of a time-honored tradition.......
.......casual correspondence.......
.......have inside meanings.......
.......are hard to let go of.......
.......hold gratitude from a generation unknown.......
.......or just catch the eye of a humble photographer.......
.......they are tokens of remembrance that are well earned and much deserved. Be grateful for them. Remember them.
