There's not been much lately to tempt me in sitting down to write. Not for a lack of material. That's good news. :) More so, I've been living in the good moments and simply enjoying them and in other moments I'm just plain busy. No complaining, because it's even the good kind of busy, ya know? Today was the perfect example.
I woke to find my husband still sleeping. And the sun was shining. That combination only happens on weekends which means someone was playing hooky today. I had a feeling it would happen. My laptop's security became compromised and he spent the better part of the night fixing it. It could have waited, but that man's sense of priority is skewed at times. At 1:00 in the morning, problem solving wins out over sleep, yet at 6:00 in the morning sleep wins out over the workday. He's lucky he can get away with "sick days" on such short notice.
The day could have easily been frittered away while I tiptoed and he slept, but surprisingly by 8:30 we were in the motions of a busy day starting with breakfast, showers, lots of phone calls and computer work. At midday we headed out to tackle errands, errands, errands, and some lunch. I even got my car washed. It's a glorious day here. Just the sort of day you want for driving in the car with the windows down, the music cranked up, and good company by your side. To be honest...it was almost too nice for March 19th. I ended up testing the AC in the car and regretting my choice of long sleeves and jeans. The brighter the sun shone, the pinker my face got.
When we returned home I headed straight for the bedroom and without ceremony I stripped down to my undies and flopped on the soft fabric of the comforter. I was a goner. My energy level dropped, my heart rate slowed and as I listened to the rhythmic sound of the ceiling fan, my consciousness began slipping. I heard the muted sounds of the neighborhood through the windows. Dog barking. Motorcycle driving by. Kids squealing with after school glee. Od joined me on the bed in our shadowy room. My once over heated skin was now cooled from the fan and I curled into his side for a much needed spot of warmth.
Less than 45 minutes later I woke with a smile on my face. The birds are still chirping, the sun is still shining, and I have plenty of the day left to cook dinner, finish the laundry and maybe - just maybe - curl on the couch and call it a day. But man...what a great day it was.
Maybe it's not always about trying to fix something broken. Maybe it's about starting over and creating something better.

Silverstein and Seuss
These two. Geniuses they are. *sigh*
There's a slew of uneducated opinions I could string together about being brave enough to try and get what you want out of life and the beauty of finding acceptance. In a post on my anonymous blog. I'm smart enough to note and appreciate the irony. Just take these wise words for what they are : basic and true. Happy Friday. Happy life. That is all.

One week down.......and an unintended HNT
*sigh* Not to start on a negative note this morning - which is refreshingly cool and sunny with the crickets and birds both chirping while I listen to them through the open windows and drink my coffee - but I really dislike when I have plans and things don't work out for me. *another sigh*
You see, I've been a dutiful photographer this week documenting my daily treats to myself. And my computer and/or memory card won't cooperate. Rrrgghhhh. Alas, I have no pictures, save one - which I'll get to. You'll have to take my word that in the past week I managed to :
You can thank (or blame) him for this week's HNT. I clearly had nothing to do with it, 'cause if I did you'd be looking at a different pair of undies. Y'all have seen these already. ;)
HHNT everybody! *kiss*
You see, I've been a dutiful photographer this week documenting my daily treats to myself. And my computer and/or memory card won't cooperate. Rrrgghhhh. Alas, I have no pictures, save one - which I'll get to. You'll have to take my word that in the past week I managed to :
- buy myself 3 pairs of cute sandals. One flippy pair and 2 pairs of espadrilles (my current favorites). They were on sale, I got Kohl's Cash (gotta love that!), they are both comfy and sexy, Od really liked them, and they highlight my.........
- brand new pedicure (and manicure). I prefer them at the salon, but this time was time well spent in my kitchen with my daughter as we soaked our tootsies, filed our nails and helped each other pick out polish colors. I went with a pale pink that turned out not so pale after 2 coats (think Peptol Bismol), and she went with a dark green. Yes. Green. Hers looks better than mine.
- mixed bouquet. I was doing the grocery shopping and the florist had some gorgeous flowers put together with lilies, roses, daisies, snap dragons, and other flowers I don't know the name of, set strategically right inside the door for suckers like me. I grabbed a bouquet up, placed it in the cart and it made me happy all the way through the store and continued to do so for the next few days. $8.00 well spent!
- impromptu lunch at Panera with my sweetie. This eatery is easily becoming our regular go-to when we're being sneaky and grabbing a meal or snack on the sly, away from our kids. I've been experimenting with different choices lately but this time went back to my tried and true favorite : grilled chicken Caesar salad and french onion soup.Yummy!
- lazy day. Saturday was spent basically staying out of Od's way. The water was shut off while he replaced our water heater and I had nothing that was calling me to get done that didn't require plumbing so I drove to McDonald's, bought myself a Coke (theirs is the best, I can't explain why) and happily frittered the day away catching up on my fan fiction reading. All smutty - I can assure you! ;)
- hot wax. I invested in a home waxing system. Not the cheap kind either. The proper kind exactly as our waxer uses. Note I said our. It took me some years to convince Od that while I love his hairy chest, legs, arms, stomach, (happy trail....*sigh*) I do not love his um, well, his back hair. He's 42, has always been a hairy guy, and that stuff just multiplies with age. No man can pull off the full man-sweater look - I don't care how sexy you are. Not that his was that bad, but it was only a matter of time given the situation. So now it's been taken care of but has proven to return quickly and it's cheaper to just do it at home in the long run. Also - have I mentioned that I'm a bit of a sadist? I'm looking forward to having a go at him just a liiiiiittle too much. *big grin*
- zzzzzzzzzzz. I took a nap. Middle of the day. Down to my undies. Should've been thinking about getting dinner ready. Messed up the bed and everything. It lasted over an hour, the house was completely quiet and I got busted - only I didn't know it until I was disrupted by Od telling me to hold still. Why? Because he's a pervert. Here's the proof :

Happy happy joy joy
So.....I'm thinking that this summer might not be so bad.
I made a plan.
I gathered the kids and laid it out.
No sleeping in.
The day starts right away with breakfast and regular chores.
We hit the YMCA followed by lunch.
Then we have the day for the pool, library, movies, amusement park, etc.
The one big stipulation is this : everyday, without fail, each of us has 3 extra jobs to do.
I make the list, they choose from the list.
Yesterday my son informed me "Oh yeah, I'm done with exams. Yesterday was my last day."
?????????
I said "Good. You can get a head start on your projects."
He washed his car, took care of the dog, made his bed, swept the driveway, cut down some weeds, and moved the fire pit woodpile.
I bought him lunch. He was happy.
Today my bathroom got cleaned, carpets and couches vacuumed, tree house lumber is denailed, oven drawer cleaned out, herb pots are shiny, papers and junk mail shredded, and windows got washed inside and out.
I bought them lunch again.
I got a "thank you" for that.
They're actually in good moods considering they worked all morning and afternoon.
Oh! And they did their own laundry, too.
I hope this pattern holds up. I can't believe it's worked 2 days in a row. I'm beyond happy.
And the cherry on top?
Son got a call for a job interview!
This shit better be real when I wake up tomorrow. That's all I'm sayin'.
Almost forgot. I'm giving Friday Facts a rest for now. Thinking about putting up a formspring widget instead. Maybe. As with anything....... if I can figure it out. ;)
Have a good weekend!
*hugs*
